Dr. Michael Chang is a native New Yorker. He attended kindergarten and elementary school at P.S. 89 in Elmhurst Queens, New York where he grew up an avid Mets fan. Michael completed Junior High School and High School at Edgemont in Scarsdale, NY graduating cum laude in 1983. He attained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University’s College of Arts and Sciences in 1987, with dean’s list honors in ‘85/’86.
Dr. Chang earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree at Columbia University’s School of Dental and Oral Surgery in 1991. He was awarded his General Dental Practice Residency Certificate from the Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s Veterans Administration Hospital in Montrose, NY in 1992. Subsequently that same year he was certified and received his dental license.
The following year was spent providing ambulatory dental care to handicapped children in the operating room utilizing general anesthesia at the Rancho Los Amigos Hospital in Downey, California. Dr. Chang polished his cosmetic dental skills under the tutelage of a renowned cosmetic dentist in Beverly Hills, CA, Dr. Anthony Mobasser, and honed his general dental techniques working alongside his father, Dr. Ki Wha Chang, a highly respected NYC dentist of over 40 years.
Dr. Michael Chang has served as a clinical faculty instructor at Columbia University’s School of Dental and Oral Surgery located at the Presbyterean Medical Center in NYC supervising senior dental students in the clinics and as an attending dentist at the North General Hospital in Harlem, NY providing comprehensive care to inpatients. As an associate dentist, Dr. Chang worked several years at large metropolitan dental facilities in Parkchester Bronx, NY and Brooklyn, NY and with a suburban family practice in Stamford, Connecticut.
In 1999 Dr. Chang opened his private dental office in lower east Manhattan where he currently practices as a sole practitioner. Dr. Chang has been practicing both general and cosmetic dentistry for over 20 years and is a very gentle, caring and seasoned dentist. He is a member in good standing with the 1st District Dental Society of New York State, The Connecticut State Dental Association, The National Society of Dental Practitioners and The American Dental Association. Dr. Chang is a certified Invisalign provider, is fluent in Korean, Spanish and Portuguese, enjoys art, sports, traveling, and resides in New York City.
